The Farm at VYCC is hiring a Crew Leader to co-lead a crew of high school students this summer season!
The Health Care Share is a Farm-to-Patient collaborative initiative that brings together farmers, doctors, community health teams, local non-profits and volunteers to provide healthy foods for families and individuals who struggle with food insecurity and chronic health issues affected by diet. All produce for this summer Health Care Share CSA is grown by 4 farms in
Rutland, Vermont. Produce is aggregated at the Vermont Farmers Food Center where it is packed and distributed to families in need. In partnership with the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps, the Rutland Health Care Share is forming the first Rutland-based Farm Crew, a small VYCC crew that will employ 4 high school students to assist farmers with food
production, packing vegetable share boxes each week, and participate in nutrition education classes. The Crew experience gives members job training and skills to be successful as young adults. The Crew is led by a Crew Leader, one passionate, committed individual who serves as a mentor and supervisor to their members.
Crew Leader is responsible for supervision, work-day transportation, and mentorship of their corps members each day. Leaders and Corps Members work M-Th, 8:00 - 5:00 for 6 weeks of the summer. The position is located in Rutland, VT.
Crew Leaders receive a weekly stipend. All Leaders are given an immersive educational experience into agriculture and youth development.
