Annual Farmersʼ Gathering
A partnership with Green Mountain College and Poultney Mettowee Natural Resource Conservation District, our annual farmers' gatherings are forums for the region to discuss relevant agricultural issues. These gatherings guide RAFFL’s work and serve as
a networking opportunity among farmers, buyers and regional agricultural service providers.
Our 5th Annual Farmers Gathering was held on November 12th, 2009 at Green Mountain College. The evening's program, "Dairy, Diversification and Demand for Local: A Shifting Economic Landscape" addresed policy and funding shifts at the state and federal level that form the context for the work RAFFL is doing in this region. Panelists were representatives from US Senator Leahy (Tom Berry), US Congressman Welch (Tricia Coates), VT Representative John Malcolm, USDA rural development (Jon-Michael Muise) and Helen Labun Jordan, Food Policy Administrator from the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets. |
