Stay energized through this coming season with the Plate to Politics Webinar Series, designed to inspire and cultivate women leaders like you. Hear from the founders of Plate to Politics about how women from the healthy food and farming movement are poised to make swift and dramatic change to the way food is produced in this country and how women farmers, workers, and entrepreneurs hold in their hands significant power and are well positioned to also have significant political impact. Registration is free, and open to all women with an idea or a passion for leadership in sustainable food and agriculture.

About the series: This 6-part series is designed to energize and equip women leaders within the healthy food and farming movement. Access some of the best trainers in the country and hear stories from the movement that will drive you to action and help you reach your goals, whether you are running the farm or running for Congress. You’ll make valuable connections, refine your skills, and discover more ways to invest in ramping up your leadership to make an impact in your community, lead policy change, or run for office. Sessions will occur monthly leading up to the National Women in Sustainable Agriculture Conference in Des Moines, Iowa on November 6–8, 2013.

Session #1: Ambition

Tuesday, March 5th, 2013 2:00pm CST Register for the webinar here.

Join us for the kick-off session on Ambition with special guest trainer Erin Vilardi. Erin is the founder of Women’s Leadership Works and the Director for leadership development at The Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College, Columbia University.

Research analyzing how and why women shy away from promoting their own strengths and ambitions shows that we tend to focus on the nature of our work experience rather than thinking about possibilities for advancement, ways to get ahead, or avenues for others to help us rise. We tend to be more concerned with the “meaning” of our job: its impact on others, daily pleasures, and the relationships we form with co-workers.  At the same time, considerable good can come of leaders who continually seek to improve; and who are sensitive to the interpersonal and social impact of their work.  But when women fail to strategize around – and appropriately tout – their capacities, they also fail to secure the promotions and resources that they deserve; the power to have their ideas implemented; and the deep satisfaction of realizing their potential. In this webinar, we will explore these questions: How do you tune in and turn on your true ambition? What are some tried and true methods to setting realistic goals and making plans to reach your dreams?
