About the Program

In 2011 RAFFL is offering Farm to Workplace delivery to workplaces throughout the Rutland region

Since 2009 RAFFL has helped to build a connection between local farms and Rutland-area workplaces. Through RAFFL's Farm-to-Workplace Delivery employees purchase a "share" of the season's freshest products and have it delivered by the farms to their workplace each week throughout the growing season. Several different shares are offered, including vegetable, localvore (includes local products like honey and apple cider), egg, half-season, and winter shares.

Employees have reacted enthusiastically, and this year RAFFL is expanding the program, adding new workplaces and many new participants. RAFFL hopes to further streamline the program by overseeing enrollment and offering administrative services. Additionally, each workplace will have the option of offering fun, food-related educational programs sponsored by RAFFL and the James T. Bowse Community Health Trust.

Local farmers also benefit from the program because it expands their market to new customers. Nearly 70% of the participants had never participated in community-supported agriculture before, and more than 60% rarely or never go to a farmers' market.
