Community Farm & Agricultural Resource Center

The Community Farm and Agricultural Resource Center will be a land-based business incubator where new farmers can hone agricultural skills and test the viability and feasibility of their start-up endeavors.

“Agriculture is woven into Vermont’s heritage and it’s vital that it be part of our future. The establishment of a community based farm, where new farmers can learn their trade, grow their businesses and network with other farmers, is a huge step in securing Rutland County’s agricultural future.”
Greg Cox, Owner of Boardman Hill Farm and RAFFL board president

The Center will allow new farmers to focus on building their markets and distribution systems, developing a strong business plan, and determining efficient and effective growing techniques. This will ensure that when they do make the transition from the incubator farm to a farm of their own, they will be investing in an economically viable, pre-existing business.

In addition, the Center will provide opportunities for the public to reconnect with farming and food production. Community gardens, gardening and re-skilling workshops and the ability to visit farms located at the Center will all be a part of this exciting project.

We continue to search for 100+ acres of farmland upon which to locate the Center. Contact us if you know of just the right spot to locate this project.
