Just a reminder that, if you have not yet submitted your comments to the VT Agency of Agriculture on the draft Required Agricultural Practices (RAPs), today is the deadline to make your voice heard.
These RAPs are mandated by Act 64, the water quality bill that passed through the legislature this year. While much of the public focus has been on dairy farms, the impact of this bill will be felt by many different types of small farms.
Submit comments your comments today to - firstname.lastname@example.org
Read the draft RAPs.
Check out Rural Vermont's Agricultural Water Quality Resource page for more information on the draft RAPs and some suggested talking points for comment submission.
Remember, at the public meetings the Agency indicated that the comments that will have the most impact will be those that are in farmers' own words, are specific to the impact of the RAPs on individual farms, and that make suggestions for how to change the RAPs.
