Bedded Pack Manure Management Training in Rutland

Are you interested in using a bedded pack for your winter manure management?  Wondering how much bedding you’ll need, what the costs will be, and how managing a pack works?  Are you trying to figure out whether a bedded pack would be right for you and your farm system?

Attend this training, featuring compost specialist Brian Jerose, UVM Extension, and NRCS partners to help you understand how to build and maintain a pack to meet your needs.  The day will also include background on how bedded packs and composting systems function; calculations for bedding, building and costs; NRCS requirements to receive funding; animal health; and Q&A with a dairy farmer experienced in managing a pack.

All sessions will be geared toward livestock including dairy cows, heifers, beef cattle, sheep and goats.  We will break into small groups by livestock type and work with every attendee to help determine your bedding needs and likely costs.  Each attendee will leave with reference materials, including spreadsheets to help with planning (and replanning).

If you plan to sign up for the NRCS bedded pack cost share this year, you MUST attend one of these trainings.
