Did you know that 2015 has been the International Year of Soils? Organizations around the globe have been working to raise awareness about the importance of soil, work towards policies that protect this invaluable resource, and promote the implementation of sustainable soil management practices. Drill down from the global perspective to our tiny state of Vermont and, in this year of soils, the focus is on improving water quality primarily through improved management of soils and nutrients.
As farmers, I don’t need to talk to you about the impact of your soil stewardship on your productivity and bottom line. But I would like to let you know about an upcoming opportunity that will put more soil fertility management tools in your toolbox. This will be an interactive workshop that should be useful for farmers’ of all experience levels.
