Info on a land opportunity in South Royalton. My family has a large piece of property (close to 1000 acres, combined pasture and forest) in central Vermont (South Royalton) that has been in our family since the 1930's. It was run as a dairy farm until 1985. Since then, the pastures have been used periodically by neighboring beef farmers who have sporadically used the pastures for their cattle, but mostly just cut the fields for hay. The on-site farm houses are rented to generate income to sustain the overall property. We have an opportunity to reevaluate our rental status as one or two of our on-site houses will be available in the spring.
We are very interested in finding a tenant who will rent the house and will also be able to use the land for their own agricultural purposes. I have been reading many promising things about the future of grass fed beef. Our property would be ideal for a farmer who is interested in increasing his/her herd. Because we have housing available, we could accommodate both the cattle and housing for a satellite herdsman/woman. Additionally, obtaining "certified organic" status for our property will be very easy.
