VFWF offers several awards:

1. The Farm Business Development Fund is intended to provide funds for education and travel related to helping recipients improve some aspect of their business. The fund will pay up to 75% of the total cost (up to $750) of registration, travel, lodging and other costs associated with attending business classes, conferences, workshops, trainings or other professional development opportunities. Funds may also be requested for costs associated with hiring replacement help when this assistance is essential to taking part in professional development.

2. The Leadership Development Fund is provided to ensure that women have the skills, access and opportunity to become leaders in agricultural policy development. Funds are awarded to help defray the costs of tuition for leadership training, travel expenses, and/or other related costs associated with participation in agricultural policy work that addresses barriers encountered by women in agriculture. Funds may also be requested for costs associated with hiring replacement help when this assistance is essential to taking part in professional development.

3. Disaster Recovery Awards are available to individuals whose farms incurred damage as a result of the May or August storms. The goal is to assist storm-impacted farm women as they consider their business options for the future. Priorities for disaster recovery funding are needs not covered by grants and loans available through other agencies. Please note: VFWF funds cannot be used for capital improvements; building projects; equipment, seed or livestock purchases; debt service or infrastructure. No matching funds are required for disaster recovery awards.
