The Rutland Area Food Co-op is looking for a qualified and enthusiastic new General Manager. We are a small, community-focused coop in downtown Rutland, VT, with over 2,000 members and sales of $1.6 million dollars per year. Our mission is to promote affordable access to organic and natural foods, and to foster a thriving marketplace for locally produced foods and crafts. Our coop is small, hands on, and has a great sense of community. Unlike larger stores, our coop offers great freedom and flexibility to shape it how members and employees see fit.
Responsibilities include: managing a staff of 15, all aspects of running a grocery business of this size, thorough knowledge of local and organic food, and most of all a positive and supportive attitude towards our staff and all of our customers. This is an ideal job for someone who showcases great leadership, the ability to juggle a dozen things at once, and who can really be the face of the coop.
The General Manager has full reign over the day to day operations, and will be responsible for guiding the Coop during its anticipated growth and expansion in the coming years. The GM reports to the Coop Board, which sets goals for the manager to reach using a Policy Governance model.
