Vegetable Production Specialist (interns accepted for this position also)Kilpatrick Family Farm, a cutting edge, young, very highly motivated farm is hiring. We are looking for people who are on board with the local, organic movement, who are self- starters, innovative, linchpin type, who want to effect change in their work environments. We require you to show up on time, work hard, and expect a lot.   You will be part of our crew and help with vegetable harvest, planting, cultivation, and general farm work. What will you learn?  Kilpatrick Family Farm is on the forefront of 4 season farming, delivering vegetables, eggs and soon meat year-round to several different farmer’s markets and restaurants in the Saratoga/ Glens Falls/Clifton Park areas. We are known for our “CSA with Choice” in which the member gets to choose most of what they receive every week. Come grow with us!

Washing, Packing and Processing manager Would work closely with michael with what needs to be harvested, figuring out the 2 CSA items of the week, and managing the packing crew. Would manage weighing and sorting the coolers, be responsible for how the root cellars and coolers get organized and set up. Would also organize and order packing supplies. Would manage products to be processed (tomatoes for sauce, drying, etc) and direct crew to do that.  Would be responsible to organize pack boxes for CSA drop-off sites. Would be responsible to work out and implement new and improved washing shed techniques. Must be type A personality, go-getter, not be afraid to tell someone what to do, be able to give clear, concise directions.   Full time summer employment, part time winter employment. CSA/ Restaurant Manager The job would involve mostly computer and customer relations work, including setting up CSA management software, talking to customers and receiving orders, setting up and implementing a CSA sales strategy, talking to and possibly distributing to local chefs. Part-time job unless applicant wanted to take on additional promotion responsibilities. Pay would be based on percentage of sales. Mac operating system knowledge preferred. Some tasks would include:

  • Meet with michael in winter to brainstorm new year
  • setting up program to deal with members
  • letting us know who is going to miss a weeks share
  • dealing with customer inquiries- emails
  • carry a CSA phone number
  • checks- receive, apply, gather for missy
  • Responsible for advertising CSA
  • brochures, posters, postcards distribution
  • Schedule talks, fairs, talk to HMO’s and other workplace CSA’s

Restaurant tasks:

  • responsible for sending out chef  price sheet
  • calling chefs once a week for orders
  • emailing orders by thursday night to Washing shed manager
  • delivering orders and picking up checks (on their own, they could charge extra to the restaurant for this)
