Small Farm Equipment: safety and maintenance workshop Tomorrow

RAFFL

The fourth in a series of six training workshops for new farmers, brought to you by RAFFL and NOFA-VT, will be held on Wednesday August 25 at the Larson Farm in Wells Vermont. Wednesday, August 255 - 7pm (New Farmer Mixer and NOFAvore social after) The Larson Farm, 69 South St, Wells VT

At the workshop, new and aspiring farmers will join Richard Larson as he goes over basic safety rules for tractors and other typical small farm equipment. He’ll talk about tractors, PTOs, tillage equipment, and bucket loaders and small equipment.  For livestock farmers, safety tips for  working with animals will be addressed. Time permitting, Richard will also touch on preventative maintenance. Larson Farm is a former commodity dairy farm, now milking 20 Jerseys for raw milk and supplying a local artisan cheese maker, as well as raising grass-fed beef.

After the workshop, make plans to stay late and join RAFFL for our Summer New Farmer Mixer and NOFAvore Celebration.  NOFA’s mobile pizza oven will be cranking out pizzas made with local ingredients. All new and aspiring farmers are invited to come mix, mingle, and meet new farming friends.  Folks are asked to pre-registration for the mixer, so we have enough pizza on hand for everyone!  Registration is easy - just register online, send an email to info@nofavt.org or call 434-4122.

Directions: The Larson Farm is located on 69 South Street in Wells.  From the center of downtown Wells, turn south at the country store onto South Street. Go 3/4 mile, and turn left at the blue mailbox with yellow cross (Swedish flag).
