Farm Life Ecology: A Field and Table Intensive at Green Mountain College This 13-week, 12-credit summer farm intensive immerses student in the theory, sweat, and rhythms of managing a small-scale, highly-diverse farm. Students live on the farm and will have the opportunity to learn about organic vegetable production, animal husbandry, and draft power. Classroom sessions are closely integrated with fieldwork to give students the why and how of sustainable farming. To provide a broader perspective, regular field trips are taken to many of the innovative and dynamic farms found in Vermont. Students will be able to learn what the future of organic farming systems could look and feel like and how they can be part of a growing movement to bring back the small family farm. Best of all, students live off the farm by consuming farm-fresh milk, vegetables and eggs.
