Farm Business Development: Consultant Services
Farmers in Rutland and Bennington Counties who have been in business for 3-10 years can apply for funding to hire consultants to improve a specific aspect of their business (i.e. marketing, soil fertility management, employee management).
Please complete the following form to start getting us acquainted with your farm and your goal(s) for accessing consultant services. There is a $10 application fee.

What can I apply for?
This funding is available to help farmers improve a specific aspect of their business. This will generally take the form of 1-3 meetings with a consultant. The topic you would like to focus on is completely up to you- some possibilities include wash station design, marketing, and employee management systems.
What happens after I apply?
After your request has been reviewed, you will be contacted by Mara Hearst, RAFFL's Farm Business Advisor, to set up a preliminary meeting to talk more in-depth about your goals for accessing services and develop a work plan. You will then be matched up with a consultant.
Can farms outside Rutland and Bennington Counties apply?
Though priority will be given to farms in those counties, if your farm is located in southern Vermont please contact Jen to inquire about availability of funds.
Can farms with less than 3 years or more than 10 years in business apply?
Though priority will be given to farmers who have been in business for 3-10 years, if you fall outside this range please contact Jen to inquire about availability of funds.
