Our Vision
The Rutland region and its towns are vibrant, self-reliant communities with viable farms and a healthy local food system that is convenient and affordable to area residents.
Our Mission
- To create economic opportunity for local farms;
- To connect residents to an abundance of healthy local foods; and
- To support environmental sustainability within our food system.
Who We Are and What We Do
Rutland Area Farm and Food Link (RAFFL) is a non-profit organization formed in 2004. We increase access to local foods and support the economic viability of area farms through education of the public and by facilitating new and expanded markets, distribution mechanisms, and processing infrastructure
while seeding the region with new farmers.
Work Areas
Connecting farms to customers with projects like the annual Locally Grown Guide, Worksite Delivery Farm Share programs, Farm Tours, the Winter Farmers Market, and our work with local schools and institutions.
Expanding the accessibility and affordability of locally grown food through on-farm Gleaning projects, Grow the Longest Extra Row and as an active member of the Rutland County Nutrition Coalition.
Supporting Farm Expansion and New Farm Start-up through our New Farmer Initiative and Land-based Farm Incubaor program, which is in the planning stages.
Food System Infrastructure Development. The proposed Green Mountain Food Hub will be a regional facility providing storage and processing solutions for farmers.
